Woolly Worm Woad Wace 5 mile

The Woolly Worm Woad Wace is a 5 mile footrace that takes place on the Saturday morning the week of the Woolly Worm Festival (the race is the third weekend in October). This 5 mile race takes a cross country/road race journey through the back roads and beautiful landscape of Avery County. This is a challenging and fun race because of the terrain.

Woolly Worm One Mile Fun Wun - 10:00 a.m. starts shortly after the Woad Wace

Registration: starts at 9:00 a.m. and race begins at 10:00 a.m. Pre-register by going to www.averycounty.com or call the Avery County Chamber at 898-5605 for your application. Chamber is open daily 10-4.

Description of Course: This 15 mile race takes runners on a cross country/ road course through the back roads and country side of Avery County, challenging runners to elevation changes and showcasing the majestic beauty of our county.
(Pavement, graveled stone paths, run past creeks and ponds)

Advanced Cost: is $20; race day $25  (Entry fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.) MC and Visa are accepted with a $3.00 added fee for processing.

Not a runner? Woolly Worm One Mile Fun Wun Wace starts at 10:00 a.m. - Cost is $10

Preregistered participants are guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt that day. 

FROM 2009:

All participants receive the official race t-shirt, and access to post race refreshment area. Prizes are awarded to top male and female runner and to the top three finishers in each division. Championship Timing ensures everyone receives an accurate time (awards are based on gun time).
